Chobi Gabba rugs are traditional hand-knotted Persian/Afghan carpets known for combining two distinct rug-making traditions:
Chobi (Choubi): Refers to the hand-spinning of wool and the use of natural, vegetable dyes derived from plants, roots, and tree bark (such as walnut husks or pomegranate peels). This process produces rich, muted earth tones with subtle natural color variations (abrash).
Gabba (Gabbeh): Characterized by a thick, soft wool pile, a simpler, coarse weave, and tribal or geometric patterns, often featuring open fields or minimalist motifs.
Key Features
Material: 100% natural hand-spun wool on a cotton or wool warp.
Colors: Warm earth tones including beige, ivory, brown, rust, terracotta, and soft greens or blues.
Texture & Pile: Soft, durable, and comfortable underfoot with medium-to-thick pile.
Design: Minimalist tribal geometry, abstract fields, or subtle floral motifs suitable for both modern and rustic interior decor.
Care & Maintenance
Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting (avoid harsh beater bars).
Spot clean spills immediately with cold water and mild soap.
Rotate every 6 to 12 months to ensure even wear and sun exposure.
