Afghan Malaki Rug
How to Maintain Your Persian Rug
With the right care, a Persian handmade rug can remain beautiful for generations.
Vacuum your rug regularly using a gentle setting and avoid rotating or beater brushes that may damage the fibres. Rotate the rug every few months to ensure even wear, especially in high-traffic areas. Keep the rug away from prolonged direct sunlight to help preserve its natural colours and prevent fading.
In the event of a spill, gently blot the area immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing, as this can spread the stain and damage the fibres. Never soak your rug or use harsh household chemicals.
For deeper cleaning, we recommend professional rug washing by specialists experienced in handling Persian and handmade carpets. Proper professional care helps protect the colours, fibres and structure of your rug while extending its life.
With regular maintenance and professional care when needed, your Persian rug can remain a timeless piece of art in your home for many years to come.
